From Bond to Hemingway. Everyone has an idea about the perfect Martini Cocktail. Now Stelton, with director Michael Ring in front, has added a new chapter to the history: Now the ultimate Martini may be shaken in an exclusive shaker or stirred in a cocktail mixer both made of real Sterling silver. The bar series from the world famous Cylinda-Line designed by Arne Jacobsen is now being produced in 925s Sterling silver and with 20 set a year for the entire world this will be a luxury for the few. The new Cylinda-Line silver series was introduced at the Formland Fair in Herning.
Arne Jacobsen's very beautiful and Scandinavian styled bar series consists of a shaker, an ice bucket with ice tongs, a cocktail mixer, a jug with ice lip, a mixer spoon and a set of coasters. All this is now being hand made in silver - and of course served on a sliver tray.
About 1,5 kilo of silver is being used for a tray and the material left is being returned leaving no valuable "waste" for visitors at the factory. Silver is being delivered in sheets and stamped in the right sizes. This is exactly the same method used when working with stainless steel. The silver is then being stretched, formed and finally polished. This is the difficult part of the process, which has demanded new ways of thinking. Kurt Jensen is one of Stelton's very skilfulled polishers who for many years has polished the products to perfection. This has been very useful to him in connection with this new precious material, but still he had to take a closer look when assisted by a professional silver smith.
